During our food and wine tour in Emilia Romagna, we will discover the secrets of Parmigiano Reggiano and Prosciutto di Parma and their ancient origins.

We will uncover the unparalleled balance of knowledge, human passion, and the generosity of nature that led to the invention of Parmigiano Reggiano in Emilia during the Middle Ages. We will be able to follow the entire production chain, starting from the feeding of dairy cows. We will see the production process of the famous cheese in full swing and visit all the rooms of the dairy: the production room, the resting room, the salting room, and the fantastic warehouse. The visit experience will conclude with a delightful tasting of Parmigiano Reggiano.

We will reach a salami factory producing Prosciutto di Parma by crossing the Colli Parma area, where pig farming developed in antiquity, favored by large woods and the presence of oaks. We will stop along the way at the foot of the magnificent Castle of Torrechiara to take some photos.

During the visit to the plant, we will observe the production process of this delicacy, learn about its important history, the standards that must be respected, and fully understand the origins of the unique character of Prosciutto di Parma: sweetness!

Things to know before booking

  • Dogs are not allowed inside the facilities
  • The production process of prosciutto is a weekly cycle (Mon-Fri). Sometimes you will see salting, other times washing or grooming. When processing is not in progress, on Saturdays or Sundays, you can still see all the rooms used during the production process
  • It is recommended to wear comfortable shoes without high heels

Hotel pick-up and drop-off are included in the “Price including transport” option (Option 1). When travelers select Option 2, transport, hotel pick-up, and drop-off are not included: the meeting takes place at the specified starting point, and you will need to use your own transport and follow the guide in your own car.
